Is your mother-in-law your mother; or is your mother- your mother?

I remember doing a radio interview and being caught off guard when asked, "Doesn't the Bible say to Honor your Mother and Father?" Basically, the caller was judging me because in my book, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are not speaking till this day. First off, she's not my mother, which is what I should have responded, and secondly, I just found the answer to his question. As I read the...
Word this morning I found in Mark 3: 31-35:

"Then Jesus 'mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, "Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you." "Who are my mother and my brothers?" he asked. Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother." Ha! Ask me that question again, I will have an answer for you.   Who do you say is your mother?

  1. Your mother in-law will never be your biological mom, but she can be your other mother if her heart is in the right place. Granted, there are moms-in-law that are probably functioning as robots. No heart what so ever. My mom-in-law was the greatest of them all. She treated me as one of her own. Sadly, she is no longer with us, but her memory still lives on.

A mother in-law, in my humble opinion, needs to earn the title of "MOM" by her in-law-kids. Should she not earn this previlege, then she will be known as, Mrs. so and so. It is sad because her child will be torn between his/her other half, and of course, mom.

Does she feel that she should be honored by her son/daughter-in-law? Well mama dearest, you need to receive that honor the old fashion way, you need to earn it.
